Founded by Bill Hunter in 1994, Chasseur (French for "hunter") is dedicated to small lot, hand-crafted wines in the old French tradition with emphasis on vineyard designates. Their small size (presently about 3,000 cases) allows complete control over the winemaking process. They work primarily with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown in Sonoma's 'West County'. Still in its renaissance this area is composed of the western edge of the Russian River Valley, Green Valley and the area of the Sonoma Coast appellation just a few miles in from the ocean, referred to as the west county triangle. Chasseur's goal is to be among the pioneers to develop the potential of this area.
